At Beeshive Community, we share a simple objective: to inform disabled people and their families about activities, networking and opportunities to improve the standard of disability rights. Check out our activities page to see what we get up to regularly, or our recruitment page to see how you can take part or work with us!

"There is no greater disability in society, than the inability to see a person as more."

Our Story

Beeshive was founded in 2014 as a home for our daughter, who has severe learning disabilities, as a place where she could live independently of her family and enjoy as full a life as possible.

The original plan was to set up a home for her, which was to be supported by a care provider. After a year of searching - in vain - for a company that reflected our values and retained staff who were properly remunerated and trained, we decided to "go it alone".

With no training in this field, but with a firm belief we could be more ambitious in challenging the perceptions of people with learning disabilities, we embarked on a wonderful journey that has become Beeshive Community.

Our Team

Our 'B Team' are an exceptional group of individuals with a unique perception that sees only opportunities, not obstacles. We share experiences, involve outside experts and continually push the boundaries imposed by society on people with learning disabilities. We also eat cake and laugh a lot!

We hope that this website will provide network opportunities, news, activities and information. Most of all we hope to inspire you if you are involved in the life of a person with learning disabilities.
